Welcome, Friends!

For my first blog post, I decided to introduce myself and my in-house support team.

My name is Priscilla, and I am the owner and creative director behind Yours Truly Calligraphy. Although I feel my heart has always belonged to the arts, I do not have a fine art background - only a few childhood art classes under my belt and a healthy dose of curiosity.

I picked up calligraphy only a few years ago, but I have been a lifelong admirer and imitator of beautiful handwriting. I chose the name "Yours Truly" because it evokes feelings of nostalgia for a time when handwriting was both a thoughtful and artful means of communication. The effort and time it takes to commit words to paper is so romantic and meaningful to me. I am so excited that calligraphy, both traditional and modern, is coming back in a huge way. And I hope it is here to stay, forever.

You will notice that I often combine calligraphy with watercolor. I discovered watercolor after finding a dusty and almost dried up set of watercolors in my craft box last year. Since then, I have come to realize that watercolor is a gift that keeps on giving. It is wonderfully unpredictable and equally frustrating at the same time. But progress, not perfection, right?

In my leisure time, I love to wander around whether it be in my neighborhood or in a foreign city. I love discovering new cafes and good eats, and hoarding succulents and tropical plants.

Yours Truly Calligraphy would not have been possible without the support of my husband, Kenny, and my furry sidekick, Skylar, who keeps me company through all of my late night work sessions. It also would not have been possible without the encouragement and love from all of the #calligrafriends and #instafriends I have met over the past year!

Thanks for taking a peek at my new website!
